FOREWORD…This newsletter was initially started in early 2020 just before Covid took over our lives. It was been rebooted and refocused on March 10, 2023 to frame the purpose and passion work I have now committed the remainder of my life to doing. I hope you’ll find value in the earlier posts that have been left as they were when they were created…and look forward to sharing more with you as the path of my work unfolds from here.
“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.”
― Michelangelo Buonarroti
For as long as I can remember there’s been one thing I cared most about — seeing myself and others do what we were truly capable of doing. Where it came from, I don’t know. But it has always been the central driving force within me.
You see, I believe we are all capable of much more than we think…
Yet we often don’t act on (or even acknowledge) our potential. We don’t push ourselves. We don’t reach as high as we could. We don’t commit to becoming who we are capable of becoming.
Well, I’ve had enough of that, and I’ve decided to stop holding back, to stop waiting, to stop wishing it were different — to go all-in on making it different. Not for everyone, but at least for the people who cross my path and for myself.
You see, the thing I’ve had the privilege of observing across the past four decades years of working with people from many walks of life is that those who achieve more, do more. They do more because they believe they must. Every day they do their best to impact others in the hope they will commit to doing the same.
And in the end, they leave their dent in the universe individually and collectively through those they influence.
My rather brutal truth is though I have always believed that’s what we’re supposed to do, I haven’t always done it. Too many times I’ve chosen to hold back …
hiding instead of asking for the ball when the game was on the line
remaining quiet when speaking up might have changed things for the better
waiting for others to step up and do what needed to be done
wishing things were different or better instead of taking action to change them
looking for permission from some unknown source
It left me angry, it left me frustrated, and it left me feeling guilty.
And I hated it, and myself because of it.
Belaboring the details and delineating the excuses would serve no purpose. But owning it and acknowledging it does (at least I hope it does). Because my main goal with this newsletter is to encourage you to choose to serve the people you are here to serve. And that begins with you making the decision to live with that objective front and center everyday.
I do it by sharing these posts, by managing my mindset to remain focused on the things that matter most, and by seeking out those willing to join me so we can collectively create massive impact and change the world (or at least our respective corners of it).
I invite you to subscribe and join me on the journey to doing what we were each put here to do…because it’s what we need now more than ever.
